It has been about six years since we last heard from American Suitcase but, rest assured, the band has not stopped creating and making music. The time has been well spent coming up with a batch of 14 songs that take their legacy from earlier in the decade and building upon it and forging a new, fresh identity that comes from the same, familiar DNA. High octane Byrds inspired tunes, but still a very
modern sounding power pop album. Lovely guitars, solid vocals and harmonies light the pearly and jangly pop landscape here. It sounds a bit more American than their previous work, with strong influences coming direct from Velvet Crush, a cleaner, crisper Teenage Fanclub, Mayflies USA(remember them?) with hints of the American power pop of the late 70`s. But, again, there`s plenty of Byrds-y jangle and harmonies. It shows the band`s power-jangle skills intact. Laden with hooks, tender harmonies, classic jangled chord progressions and harmonies, "Pillowsky" has an earthy, well-grounded pure pop thrust that packs special brand of energetic band bonhomie that lights up the all the songs here. Welcome Back - Extremely Highly Recommended!
