The Small Change return! They stunned me and many other Not Lamers a few years back with their self-titled debut(back in print and available, once again here - yeah!) and just when I was entertaining the thought they would not return, "Every Line In My Head" rages across desk and into my ears. The band rock their pop - big time. Fans of THE FIGGS will not only rejoice but freak and celebrate as they experience a band who emulate the finest of qualities that band and stand righteously alongside them. This is a passionate, honest work - one that celebrates the core heart of the spirit of rock `n roll. Fans of Ted Leo, Graham Parker, Sloan, The Hold Steady and, yes, The Figgs start lining up to enjoy. "As the Needle hits the groove on "Every Line In My Head", the 3rd long player from Seattle`s The Small Change, I can`t help but feel excited that some new old sounds are resurging and hoping to overthrow the current status quo of indie rock. As the opening track "From the East Coast" fades in, there`s an electricity to this band, and with hooks reminiscent of Elvis Costello, Early Bruce Springsteen & The Stiff records catalog circa 1978, You can`t stop feeling great while listening to this! Following with pummeling precision, "Every Line In My Head" reminds me how incredible power pop still is, while "Droppin` Petals on the Way down", "Can`t Dance Wicha Honey", "Celebrate" and "Downtown in a Restaurant" all follow suit with solid songwriting, unbelievable hooks and sing along staying power." - Seattle Rock Guy. I wrote this about their debut and it could not be more true here: `Alternating old-school pop song writing with immediately hummable sweetly open chords that lift the sounds, in and out of focus quickly for maximum affect, of the aforementioned, above bands. This is a joyous, fully melodic, high-charged tune-fest. Sharp, dead-center guitar tones, a `all-out`, let`s have a blast spirit and, most importantly, tunes that play on past the first few listens. If you wear influences on your sleeves, you better wear `em very well and The Small Change dress in style and class. Move to the front, boys." You got it, Big Time Recommended!
