There`s a lot of really fine albums of Brady Harris on this site - all good, too. On "Year Of The Pug", Harris finds a new confident and self-assured footing, fleshing out his arrangements with a parade of inspirational launch points. He has always managed to sift a rootsy but Beatley influence in many of his songs, but on "Year Of The Pug" they have a layer of texture and nuance not seen on much his previous work. I`m not the only who has taken notice: "Roots-rock Americana with the vibrant, crackling pop of Revolver-era Beatles." - Splendid. "Harris voice throughout is one of the most distinctive on the current Americana scene with echoes of Elton John and Lennon himself, and pedal steel provided by the Minus 5s Tucker Jackson provides a quality backdrop for many of the songs. At the end of the day, for all the excitement the album generates in its studio form as released, you know that alone with a guitar and Harris voice, the songs could speak for themselves quite easily unhindered by production. Unique and definitely worth exploring."-AmericanaUK. There`s not a bad track here is the bottom line and one of the most interesting explorations in Beatle-esque pop we`ve heard this year because of Harris` commitment to his own country-roots. VERY Highly Recommended!
