Broken Promise Keeper is a one man band (Rob Stuart) that pulls out all the stops and highlights a special light side of pop that most reminds of early Shoes. Old school, good school. The music is unabashedly pop, in that it`s full of catchy, hook-filled melodies and vocal harmonies. But there`s plenty of rockin` power in the driving guitars, chugging bass lines, and pounding drums."If I had to make a direct comparison, Broken Promise Keeper sounds very much like cult pop favorite Anton Barbeau. It`s fair to say Ice Cold Pop begins with a confident bounce and jangle filled riffs of "Directions." The song has some elements of mid eighties production, similar to early REM or The Shoes sound, so fans of this style will be sure to enjoy it. The driving piano chords of "Worship From Afar" sparks a great song with beautiful cascading harmonies in the chorus. The tracks here are full of rich effortless hooks, especially on my favorite track, "Kristine." For most pop fans this one is worth the effort to track down and listen to."- Power Popaholic. ""Ice Cold Pop" is another one of those bewildering discs that is so full of sound and harmonies that you find it difficult to believe that a single guy is behind it all. "Ice Cold Pop" is an startling good album - BPK manages to remind us of the golden age of Southern Pop (think mid-80s R.E.M.) while demonstrating to us that he`s embraced a diverse assortment of more contemporary pop (Red Button, The Galaxies, The Jellybricks) and can expertly weave a music tapestry with the old and the new. BPK goes beyond being a hardcore fan of power pop - he knows what makes things work and, as a result, he stirs in all the perfect ingredients to make "Ice Cold Pop" a near instant classic. We have a thick base of sticky melodies, generous harmonies, lyrics seasoned with wit and humor, and just the right amount of crunch with the guitar. "Ice Cold Pop" is one hell of an addictive cocktail." - Bill`s Music Forum. Note: This is a full color band-produced CD-R. VERY Highly Recommended!
