Beatnik Beatch - s/t (w/ Roger Manning & Andy Sturmer)

2007 reissue of 1988 album from San Francisco band that featured Andy Sturm and Roger Manning, who left the band after the band would not record enough of their material and Jellyfish was born out of that parting. Good move. ItÂ`s great hearing Andy SturmerÂ`s voice all over the album and, at its best, you can hear what was to come. A bit more info: ThereÂ`s no doubt this was recorded in the mid 80s(most of this material was re-recorded from an earlier album) but it has a pretty high batting average and a simple listening pleasure. They consisted of Chris Witt Kettner (bass, vocals), Andy Sturmer (drums, vocals) and George Cole (Guitar). They also featured Se Padilla on keyboards, later replaced by Roger Joseph Manning Jr. In 1986 they released At The Zula Pool, under the San Francisco-based indie label Industrial Records. It was re-released with 5 tracks removed and 4 tracks added after the band was signed by Atlantic Records in 1988. It was some time at this point Roger Manning joined the band. By the end of 1989, Beatnik Beatch had disbanded and Sturmer and Manning went on to form the nucleus of Jellyfish.
