CHRIS CHURCH - The Heartbreaks You Embrace | It has been some years since we last heard from Chris Church but there is no question an album as good as "The Hearbreaks You Embrace"just does not get pulled out of hat and suddenly arrive. Fans of Tommy Keene, The Connells, Matthew Sweet and Gin Blossoms are just not going to be disappointed with this new one. While those references are beginning points, Church manages to balance a healthy dose of Neil Young type raggedness with the occasional meticulous XTC - styled attention to songcraft. Shimmering harmonies often soar above the mix of buoyant ,memorable tunes. "It`s a timeline pop/rock record about the awareness of the impending dissolution of a troubled relationship. It`s same old shit, different singer, basically, but I do think it`s good. the more I look at it, the more I like it!" "Comparisons with indie pop fave Tommy Keene are well deserved as are comparisons to Matthew Sweet and Todd Rundgren."" Fufkin.com. As with his last album, "Let The Echo Decide", this one is Very Highly Recommended to most Not Lamers as being `our kind of pop`.
