2005 new release from the always enjoyable The Dipsomaniacs, who have yet to make an album we have not only dug, but folks like you do not enjoy. This one is their 5th by our count, and each one pushes their creative evolution forward and gets more refined, more confident. This is a bargain, too. 2
CD`s, 27 songs for the price of one, too! There`s all sorts of material
here to take in: garage rock stomps, 3 minute power pop gems, roots rock rockers, acoustic and piano almost ballads - all there. The Second CD is called Down the Drain and includes 9 previously unreleased Dipso tunes of self-proclaimed varying levels of quality and sobriety. As is their trademark, they parade out a strong Replacements vibe (but tighter) along with plenty of Material Issue, some Flamin` Groovies, some Posies, The Who. It`s a familiar drill, arguably, but The Dipsomaniacs have their patent on this sort of filtration system and it works extremely well and goes down with ease. Rock Beat International captures their essence well here: "(The Dipsomaniacs go) shaking and quaking to and fro with boundless energy and heapings of hardfisted hooks. As long as bands such as Dipsomaniacs are around, the spirit of rock & roll will never wither away and die!" Extremely Highly Recommended!
