Lapland marks the solo debut from Craig Wedren, who many will remember as the frontman for Shudder To Think and it shares little w/ his previous band, this one focuses on more lushly executed yet simple songs, at times introspective. The first song sets the tone: "Kingdom", with a simple framework, an acoustic guitar line accompanied by Wedrons almost hushed vocals which gradually increase in volume and confidence as the song progresses and gentle drumming make the album an enjoyable listen from the get-go. Do You Harm which features elegant female backing vocals and Born Curious one of the albums most straightforward rock songs are among the albums standout tracks. Lapland is an really strong collection of honest songs that within a few minutes of listening to will see listeners rekindling their love for Craig Wedrens musical output in a new, different way.
