Lazy Smoke - Corridor Of Faces | OUT OF PRINT - ONLY ONE! Like VU and Big Star, Lazy Smoke became more famous in death than life. A
Massachusetts band and local phenom in the late 60`s, "Corridor" became one
of the more revered collectables among 60`s enthusiasts. The full album is
here with 12 unheard demos and 16 page booklet, a great period piece that
deserved a much better fate, but here is lovingly reissued! "Lesser
imitations of the early Beatles aren`t hard to find, but it`s much tougher
to locate diligent imitators of the group`s late-`60s sound. Here is one
unheralded example, offeringa collection of mid-tempo, accessible late-`60s
rock sung by a vocalist with a remarkable resemblance to John Lennon. But
the songs, while not bad, are really unmemorable once the record`s finished,
making this more of an oddity than something to avidly seek. The CD reissue
on Arf! Arf! adds a dozen previously unreleased acoustic demos by leader and
songwriter John Pollano, mixing different versions of songs from the album
with compositions that didn`t make it onto the LP; these make his fixation
with John Lennon `67-68 sound even clearer"- AMG

| a must have lost masterpiece | |
| Reviewer: Corin Ashley | | Bazillions of obscure 60`s reissues have been described as lost psychedelic treasures, but few contain the charm of these tracks. This isn`t a Boston band like Orpheus or Ultimate Spinach, this was what was happening in the suburbs: 4 tracks, a couple years too late and a $1,000 budget for the whole album. Heavily influenced by the Left Banke, and sounding like Parachure- era Pretty Things, with a smidge of Magical Mystery Tour, this is a 60`s pop fan`s dream. |
