The Confusions - 5 A.M.

Swedish Import and latest album from Sweden`s Confusions, long a favorite here at Not Lame. If you have not heard this band before, this is so strong `n hot, we can justly say `this is where to begin`. It`s their most evolved, confident and assured release to these ears, filled with all the guitar energy and spunky melodies and hooks their previous outings only hinted at even though the four that preceded "5 AM" are uniformly recommended. Blending classic, hard guitar driven power pop(Grass Show, This Perfect Day, The Drowners and, occasionally, the rockier side of The Cardigans) and mid/late 90`s Brit-Pop (classic Blur, Menswear, Super Furry Animals and Supergrass), The Confusions are thoroughly modern, hooky-as-hell and supremely in control of crafting sweet `n loud power pop with emphasis on the power.

"Emanating from the same anglophile genepool as fellow Swedes the Cardigans and the Wannadies, the Confusions would rather look to the pre-Madchester/ Britpop indie of Julian Cope, Prefab Sprout and Echo & The Bunnymen than the reheated garage rock as peddled by the Hives."=Vangauard Online. "Although they`re from Sweden, you can smell the classic, swirling, neon-like, brit pop influence with a skyscraping ceiling, a sunken bottom-end and a taffy-like elasticity inbetween that gives these songs their huge, sweeping sound. It`s hard to say whether it`s you that becomes the puddle or if you`re the cannonball crashing into their oceanic sound,"-OnlineReviewer. You got it, Extremely Highly Recommended!!
