This is from 2005 but one to MOST DEFINITELY not overlook, which is why it`s back out in front of your eyes again! It`s a joy when a CD arrives like this(and thanks to Craig Leve for making sure we did miss this one!). This is one just jumped right to the top of the heap for being a contender for "Best Of 2005" list and walk with us, hold our virtual hand and many of you are going to be making the same mark and impression. Bouncy sing-a-long choruses, willowy melodies, caressing, swooning vocals, it`s just, simply, stunning. There`s so a graceful blending of influences in here, but signposts for folks will include Elliot Smith, Jellyfish, The Shins, Raspberries, The Kinks, The Beatles---you get the drift. But like the aforementioned Shins, they have their truly original way to patchwork and paste these influences into something fabulously fresh and buzz-worth. Ear candy is exactly what this record is , crystalline melodies and an inch perfect production make this an unexpected treat.
It's sobering to think that bands as good as this could go by relatively unheard of ,if not for sites such as this.
A simply beautiful pop record ! |
