"Purple Burt" is a children`s record that appeals to pop fans and even has the approval of Andy Partridge *and* Martin Newell(see below)! In fact, much of the music here will remind folks of Sir Partridge and Newell, as well as They Might Be Giants. But a hit in my house. Both of my children, 8 and 5 yrs old, listen to this all the time. So much, that their friends are now digging Sir Purple Burt and have their friends asking their parents where they can get it. The story line of the CD? A kooky, quirky, catchy album of songs and stories about a purple boy named Burt. He`s purple . . . he`s invisible . . . he`s colorblind . . . he`s got a snapping turtle named Kurt . . . his singing girlfriend is named Do-Re-Mimi . . . he eats purple dirt to stay alert . . . his brother Purple Herbert slurps and burps all day from a diet consisting solely of herbal sherburt. Long story short - he`s unique and fun and sometimes a little sad too. I suppose you could say he`s like most kids, and most kids seem to like him.
