Little Purple Circles - s/t

Only available here and specially offered to Not Lamers, this band produced 12 song debut CD-R is filled with truly outstanding power pop that will appeal to fans of such recent faves as Checkpoint Charley, Getaway Car and older ones like Umajets(translation: there`s some Jellyfish influence in here) and . "Beautiful World" does the impossible mixing Randy Newman, Harry Nilsson with Wondermints and, yes, Jellyfish. "Everything You Read" is ambitious with its musical destination, while "Shake Hands" is about as classic of a depiction of modern-day power pop! While this is a debut and the band is clearly finding its grounding and artistic footing, Little Purple Circles asserts itself confidently on each of the trax here and harkens, not hinting, of great things to come while this mini-gem glitters on porch waiting to to bust through the door. Extremely Highly Recommended!

"Crazy From The Sunshine"

This, I think, is the best cut from the entire album. I Iove this song. All of the other songs rate high, but this one stands out the most. Can't wait to hear it on the radio/MTV.

This is an album of songs that enjoy lovely melodies that belie often very dark lyrical themes. That's not to say there's no jouyfulness on this disc - far from it - Beautiful World is just beautiful. LPC wear their influences openly but don't allow any of them to compromise their sound or "vision". From Rany Newman melancholy to Harry Nilsson whimsy via Ian Hunter style analysis & dissection this album is riverting, hummable & survives deeper investigation as a complete work. As musicians, songwriters, producers & mixers this duo have a lot to be proud of. The bar for home recording has been raised to a height that the vast majority will not even hope to achive and with the artistry involved only a very select few will even approach. To put this CD in context: LPC is better than any other CD I purchased in the 12 months prior to owning it & I buy a lot of CDs.

Bowie and The Beatle do an Album!
Reviewer: Miguel  Vallejo
"Shake Hands" This song is very Indy/Glam Pop. I like the guitar rhythm kind of shoveling coal into a fire furnace on an old style train. The heart of the moving sound. The vocals are reminiscent to 70's rock/Glam. The drums are very Keith Moon playing! A little random! Not too unorthodox! LIKE IT! "Everything You Read" This song has a dreamy/spacey type of vocals with a touch of Bono! The music is very Industrious. Ala' "Metropolis". This one had me in the mood IMMEDIATLEY! "Penelope O' Doule" This song is DEFINITE 70's POP! The verse is welcoming of a Mellotron Piano. The influence of "STrawberry Fields"! I became very warm inside like a little kid who was kissed on the cheek by his mom for doing something nice. Very much outside sitting on a small lump of land with the trees and the grass blowing gently in the wind ever so pleansantly. "The Miles Gone By" A 70' s Rock/Glam Pop Gem! The descending lines for the verse are a nice way of falling slowly into a psychedelic tunnel of vibrant colors and free-forming shapes changing at will with delight. Enjoying the fall in a euphoric state of bliss. "Beautiful World" This song opens sounding familiar of John Sebastion' s "Welocome Back Kotter Theme song". I like it! I hear "The Benefit of Mr. Kite"! Carnival/Circus of play in a school' s recess of kintergarden of joy going down a rainbow slide or being pushed on a swing! Innocence in delight.

What can I say? It's good ole, straight up Rock. Some Beatlesque harmonies, with some modern Pop/Rock. Sit back and enjoy. That's what it's all about.

Awsome
