Loser - s/t | Yeah!! Here`s one overlooked from 1998 and just unearthed. This was the band that evolved into International Pop Overthrow more recently under the moniker, Loser. And what a misnomer! Think of this as the phase of The Posies evolving from "Dear 23" into "Frosting"; this is the bridge there. So many places this sounds like Ken and Jon singing together and that`s not surprising, we suppose, since Ken Stringfellow produced this. Translantion: spot-on harmonies beautifully blended against acoustic and electric guitars to highlight the Holllies-styled vocal harmonies. While we come across many bands influenced by za Posies, this one might just rank at the top of the list(no offense, guys---it`s a big compliment!). Just check out the soundbites and the pop dreamland comes into full view. While The Posies are the most easy reference, they are having so much fun there`s a bit of Spongetones-styled rave-up fun(especially on the irresistible "In My Hands"). How on earth was this so totally unknown and ignored when it came out, we can not quite fathom, but here it is unearthed for full rediscovery. Stake a claim to some incredible catchy power pop that will stick around much longer than this did the first time. Extremely Highly Recommended!
