Brian McGuire - Westminster Holiday

Fans of "Revolver/Rubber Soul"era Beatles will need to take a listen here to Brian McGuire`s "Westminster Holiday", as its influence is unmistakeable. It`s an updated 60`s pop sound, utilizing arrangements, instruments and melodies that are familiar trodden territory for many of us. It`s a big task, too. Thankfully, the songs McGuire bring to the pop party are up for it. With help from Not Lame fave, Charley Dush (he recorded and mixed it and plays all over) and others, the CD is rich with warm harmonies, ringing acoustic and electric guitars, a lot of Harrison-like melodies and a simple, effective merging of traditional western instruments with exotic eastern instruments ala Sitar, Tambura, and Tabla, on selected tracks. There`s some "Reckoning"-era REM styled jangle that creeps, happily, into the light, especially on "Still In Love"`s verses; very effective. Emotions emote, melodies drift skyward, instrumentation compliments the soul of the simple song. Masterfully reflective, artistically challenging, principally acoustic driven, McGuire nails his craft right down to the board and makes it hard to move out of the listeners` head. Very Highly Recommended!

Westminster Holiday by Brian McGuire

This is a trip back in time to the late 60's early 70's Beatlemania. A time when the music, the vocals, and the message in each song had meaning. This is a must have, must listen to CD. This is one recording that you can and will play over and over again. Soon you will sing along just as we all did to the original Beatles sound. I haven't been able to pick out which song is my favorite, they are all great. Your World? There She Goes? Great Music Brian McGuire or should I say..........Sir Brian McGuire

Love this CD, from the first time I heard it. This is something different and exciting. Yet, is catchy and I never get bored with. Hope there is more coming! Very original, really melodic, groovy music.
