Canadian only import and what a treasure!! Limited copies of this right
now, I`m afraid, so don`t wait---this may be gone in a day or two. It`s
pure pop wrapped up in early 70`s Bolan/Bowie glam, early 80`s Cars-y new wave charms, early/mid 70`s Sparks and cool modern bands like The 88, Jason Falkner, Bloom, The New Constitution and lots of Supergrass. Also, you can hear refrains of fellow Canadians Sloan, Crash Kelly and The National
Anthem, as well. The tempos are sprightly, the hooks tumble out of the
speakers, the band mixes up styles and eras. Tons of driving rythms, massive melodies and great, great rocking pop songs. This is lush, smart and soaring guitar pop drenched in moody sonic experimentalism and it rocks, big!! Plenty of those aforementioned new wavey charms are all over, with interesting arrangements, a dash of tasteful keyboards, lot `o punchy guitar and hooky sweet melodies. "The 20-something songsmith(Ian Smith) deftly blends the crunching melodicism of power pop to the sensual decadence of glam and the rhythmic rigidity of `80s new wave, producing an addictive, fat-free concoction over which he lazily pours his languorous, seductively raspy vocals. Then he serves it all up in an impressively consistent disc that stylistically spans Bolan and Bowie, Lennon and McCartney, Rundgren and Sparks, The Cars and Weezer -- all without sounding slavishly derivative. And without a dud track in the bunch. If that isn`t the mark of a great songwriter, we don`t know what is. "-Canoe.ca. "Have you ever popped in a CD from a band you never heard of before, and as soon as you hear the first rift off the first song, your eyes just pop out and your ears perk up? Well that is just what happened to me when I popped in The Miniatures` Coma Kid. I almost get the feeling of discovering something so special here, that I just need to share with the rest of the world!"-MonkeyBiz.Ca. A stunner, beginning to end, not a bad track here!
