Love hearing this sort of project! This CD-R made by Selvati himself highlights a sound very few artists mine - and should. Bob Salvati appears to have many of his inspirations from classic Paisley Pop bands of the early 80`s, in particular The Three O`Clock, Game Theory, The Cars, Blondie and "Tounge Twister"-era Shoes. There`s bits of the 70`s band Milk `n Cookies, too(check out the reissued CD on this site!). All of these bands` sounds
come clearly into the light on the 12 songs here. Bsides the music
reminding these ears of all these cool bands, his voice (and this is a good thing as it`s a classic styling for the `power pop` idiom) sounds a lot like Michael Quercio(Three O`Clock) and Ian North(Milk `n Cookies). Slightly herky jerky `n choppy guitar lines dot and curve in and out of focus leaving just enough time to grab big bombed out hooks, when that`s out of the system, they take a deep breath and let gorgeous melodies linger in a teasing manner as you know they won`t be there `too` long! Without question, charming new wave arrangements make this one feel like it could have been from LA around 1980 as the skinny ties made a fad of themselves. CD-R band
pressing. Extremely Highly Recommended.
