We had this up a few months ago, but it was very hard to find stock on and
now we have fixed that problem and want to make sure you all don`t miss this
most unusual gem for the sophisticated pop fan looking for something
different, but, uh, not *too* different! It`s power pop in an avant-garde fashion made by brothers Mike
and Shawn Franklin. A collection of songs that were written and recorded
over a five-year period. These songs showcase the band`s love of 60`s and
70`s pop music with a modern twist. Some of the darker edges along the way
reflect the sense of loss that they experienced with the passing of loved
ones during that time. Although the Franklin brothers refer to themselves as
an avant-garde power pop band, they consider this a true pop record, even
though their avant-garde side still manages to peek through. There`s some
Wondermints, Jellyfish influence, some early/mid 80`s synth bands but it
goes different, more, uh, `avant-garde` places than those bands. This is
power pop bands uncomfortable with that designation and wanting to push
themselves to into something new, fresh, striking and, well, uncomfortable.
The Scallions are taking chances in this
genre and coming up roses on "Agony Through Ceremony"

others. Nice double lead solo. Nobody doing that anymore. The whole
album really shows a lot of hard work and well thought out
