The Sterling Loons - What To Do In Trouble

LOVE this album!! This is hook heavy, sweet `n catchy full flavored guitar power pop fare with an exciting, diverse and fresh sound. Shimmering Kinks "Muswell Hillbillies" British country-side charm, Achingly beautiful in spots, all wrapped up in the nice package of guitar sheen. Reminds of me quirky pop bands from the 80`s like The dB`s, Texas Instruments(well, they`re the 90`s), Let`s Active and The Silos but they also recall mid/late 70`s NYC band The Laughing Dogs. The guitar sound reminds me of Robert Quine`s and Ivan Julian`s work in Richard Hell and The Void Oids, edgy, angular, but always melodic. You`ll find insistent power chord, three part vocals, a dynamic rhythm section, and a healthy dose of 12 string and backwards guitars. The album covers plenty of stylistic ground, easing through rock, psychedelia, and pop without ever losing focus. From the insistent power chording of "Wilting in the Sun" to the dreamy vocals and backwards guitars of "Dreaming of the Sun", the band ties it all together with a dynamic rhythm section, three part vocals, and plenty of 12 string guitars. The album covers plenty of stylistic ground, easing through rock, psychedelia, and pop without ever losing focus. A major find, Extremely Highly Recommended!
