Jake Stigers - Comin` Back Again | A vibrant, striking debut from Jake Stigers who has a voice that`s a combination of Danny Wilde(The Rembrandts), Chris Robinson(Black Crowes) and Mick Jagger, believe it or not. The debut has a roots-pop feel grounding it, an energizing ingredient in a welter of Wall of Sound, throwback Tom Petty open-chorded jangle, a bit of rockin` funk of Prince or Lenny Kravitz
and sharp-eared pop tunefulness. Fans of Tom Petty, Gin Blossoms, a
poppy-ish Black Crowes and Convoy need to check Stigers out, for sure. "A cool pop rocker that could be the result if Mick Jagger, Steve Miller and Danny Wilde got together and made an album..think Keith Richards would be full of envy if he heard this stuff"-Melodic.net. "Stigers has a strong, and confident pop sense, the songs rock with tight control. "Comin` Back Again" and "Only Be With You" bounce and crunch like good power pop should"-Music
Emmissions. "Stigers plays rock without apologies, seamless songs with
undeniably catchy choruses"-TimeOUt NY. "4 stars..his songs are beyond catchy, and he mixes many elements into them, crafting a large body of work that ranges from pure power pop to Rolling Stones-like blues rock."-Pulse Weekly. "Grade: A-. On the basis of that one song it might be tempting to write Stigers off as a talented but slightly lightweight pop-rock hit-slinger, but as this disc progresses he mixes things up nicely. Another Negotiation adds grit, matching a Replacements sound with a snarly, fed-up lyric. In contrast, Only Wanna Be With You mixes muted, dreamy guitars with ooey love lyrics in a Peter Frampton-meets-Semisonic pastiche whose rich tone also reminded me of indie fave Bryan Master. Next up is the simply fantabulous We Dont Need Anybody, in which Stigers blends crunchy Jet-meets-Brendan Benson melodic rock with a little Southern sass in the vocals and stabbing riffs that would make Keith Richards grin. Stigers also wins music trivia bonus points here for quoting Rockin Pneumonia & The Boogie Woogie Flu, a hit for Huey Piano Smith in 1957 and again for Johnny Rivers in 1972."-Daily Vault.

| I dig it, my kid digs it, my brother digs it, my friends dig it. | |
| Reviewer: Marshall Simmonds | | Not only do I like it but my one year dances without prompting. That's the true test I'd say.
Also, the CD is one thing but seeing Jake Stigers live is another. His show is not only stellar musically but humorous and fun. I strongly recommend seeing him in NYC when possible. |

| Reviewer: Denise Beasley | | This album is absolutely fantastic!
Being a british fan, I've only just recently discovered Jake...Comin back again ...Is flawless.
I love all the tracks but my favourite has to be Marlena...That voice...Falsetto.
You just have to listen once and you're hooked. Only wanna be with you was co written with Jakes older brother Curtis. This too is a wonderful song. So emotional! You will just want to keep on playing Comin back again...You will find yourself singing along, you just can't help yourself! I was most fortunate to get to see Jake play live when he toured England last year.
Go see him... |

| Another Brit fan! | |
| Reviewer: Eileen Charnley | | I've recently seen Jake Stigers live in the UK, but have had this CD for a year or more.
What can I say? An amazing voice, with a range that defies belief. Lyrically, this CD had me hooked from the first track onwards. I love the straight on, tell-a-story feel to these tracks, and the whole CD has that happy 'buzz' to it that makes it impossible to put down.
I loved the CD, but seeing Mr. Stigers and his band, The Velvet Roots, play live in the UK really upped the experience. These guys rock the house every show.
CD # 2 was on sale in the UK, and I can assure you that this one continues with the no nonsense approach of great music, gifted lyrics and adds in more musical influences from Jake's own personal favourites. |
