What a find! Fans of early 70`s Kinks, listen up and check out "Ink Block Fingerprint" now as the spirit of Ray Davies` period from 1970-1975 is firmly embedded all over this fascinating, eminently enjoyable CD; its charms grow, its laid-back spirit contagious and the lilting melodies woo
the soul. Not sure if Patrick Storedahl is even a fan of, say, "Soap
Opera" from The Kinks, but while this era of the Kinks can be kicked to the gutter from some fans, Not Lame will argue some of Davies` finest songs are found on the records from this period --- and, boy, does the quality of those songs run thru this one! In fact, there`s even a bit, wacky as it may seem, of The Grateful Dead from this period that peeks in inside some parts. Yes, I may be imaging things, but what is clear and true is that "Ink Block Fingerprint" is unlike any record I have heard in sometime and, there are a lot of subtle shifts in mood and genre here, covering plenty of stylistic
ground. Extremely Highly Recommended!
