Emerging out of the blue in 1972 with the witty high school pop pastiche `Donna`, 10cc were quickly hailed by the era`s pundits as the ultimate studio whizz-kids, fusing classic 60s-style melodies and harmonies with the latest advances in recording technology at the band`s own Strawberry Studios in Stockport. Eric Stewart & Graham Gouldman set up Strawberry Studios in 1968 & went onto record under various guises, especially for bubblegum kings Kasenatz Katz, before forming 10cc. Those deft recording skills had actually been carefully honed during a three-year studio apprenticeship that had started in 1969, when bubblegum kings Kasenetz Katz hired Strawberry and instructed the quartet to ghost tracks that would appear (mainly in the US) under a variety of aliases that included Silver Fleet, Crazy Elephant and the Ohio Express. 23 tracks including many that are new to CD. Includes full-color fold-out sleeve with extensive liner notes, photos & other memorabilia. The quality of the songs here is mind-boggling. The talents of these guys immense as the styles swerve all over the place...you`ll hear elements that would become 10cc here, but also, Buffalo Springfiled, Stealers Wheel, Badfinger and tons and tons of amazing bubblegum sounds, including a great song they wrote for Ohio Express.
