The Tunes - Bright Yellow Sun | Japanese version of this stunning Finnish power pop band, one of the best on the scene the last five years. Fans of the long-departed and sorely missed, The Merrymakers will find familiar, happy territory. Same with The MoptopsÂ` jangle pop. We sold a lot of this one 3 years ago and then it disappeared, so Not Lame is quite Bside itself having this one around again. One Chord To Another has this to say on the release: "One of 2005Â`s best. It might be slightly questionable to put The Tunes ahead of The Posies and Brendan Benson whose albums have higher peaks. But Bright Yellow Sun is almost entirely flawless and better album as a whole. Eleven wonderful summery powerpop songs with gorgeous melodies and beautiful singing. It`s simple when you know how to write great pop songs. Or is it? I`d like to think it`s more like an art form. Every pop band can` t make that happen, but The Tunes truly can. American Rikki London and his Finnish partners in crime have created a perfect sunny pop album! Eleven stunning pop songs - the Byrdsian `See You Tomorrow` is just amazing, the obligatory pop song with a girl`s name `Valerie` is a hit with a killer chorus, the softer tunes `Come Around` and `Don`t You Fall In Love` are astoundingly beautiful. I also think that vocal harmonies are basicly the best thing in music, I recommend to pick up those headphones and use them, because a few of those harmonies will truly melt your heart. Thoughtfully arranged guitar pop with a hefty dose of love and Rickenbackers. Leaning towards The Byrds, Gene Clark and Crosby, Stills & Nash. A truly wonderful album. Melodies that kiss the sky and songs that hold your hand. Pop art for a simple romantic boy!"". EXTREMELY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
