Charley Dush - Breakdown Union | 2007 release from Charley Dush, who has released two popular releases here this decade and on this, his third, he utilizes a richer studio environment and comes up with not only his best sounding release, but his strongest batch of songs. Here, he merges his jangly distillation of Tom Petty, The Byrds Ray Davies and "Dark Horse"-era George Harrison with a hint of roots-pop Nashville sensibilities(think Flying Burrito Brothers rockers as on "One More Day Of Happiness"). Backed by veteran Twin Cities musicians such as Noah Levy (the Honeydogs, Golden Smog), keyboardist Peter J. Sands (The Honeydogs), the playing and production take Dush`s vision to a new level, one which shows Charley maturing as a songwriter and a craftsman. The 10 songs here are packed with ringing Rickenbacker guitars, gently strummed acoustics, Beatlesque vocal harmonies and enough hooks to satisfy any discerning fan of classic 60`s flavored power pop rock. Delightful, unpretentious and full of snappy pop surprises throughout and with each successive listen. Very Highly Recommended!
