94 Baker Street - The Pop....

Full title - 94 Baker Street - The Pop Psych Sounds Of The Apple Era `67-`69. 2003 compilation highlights the exciting pop & psych sounds that originated at 84 Baker St., where The Beatles launched their Apple organization. In the greater context of sixties pop history, `94 Baker Street` may not have the same cachet as `The Brill Building` or even `Denmark Street,` but it was from that building - on the corner of Baker and Paddington in London - where some of the most exciting English pop and psych sounds of 1967 and 1968 originated. It was from 94 Baker Street that the Beatles launched their Apple organisation, starting with Apple Music Publishing, which opened for business at Baker Street in September 1967. Over the course of two years, Apple Publishing would nurture the careers of artists such as Focal Point, Grapefruit, the Iveys (who would evolve into Badfinger, there are five trax from them here) and Tony Hill (of Misunderstood and later High Tide), all included here. The highlights of those heady pop psych days are captured on this unique CD collection. Compiled and noted by the author of the book Those Were The Days (the history of the Beatles Apple Organisation), Stefan Granados, the package includes exclusive photos and artist interviews. There are also some exclusive tracks to this package such as the previously unreleased demos and alt. takes of the Focal Point, the McCartney produced Grapefruit, and the Iveys. 21 trax total!
