V/A - A Whole Lot Of Rainbow (Soft Pop Nuggets)

UK only import! Soft Pop gems, long lost,, keep finding a way to get themselves re-discovered and here`s the latest comp, one of the better ones, from the last few years. Implicit with many sub-genres from yesteryear, Sunshine Pop/Soft Pop included, there`s an old adage that during the `60s anything seemed possible. Certainly, the unlikely group of middle-aged producers, studio vocalists, and reformed folkies featured on this collection proved this to be true. One must remember, it was a time when The Mamas & The Papas were actually considered a rock band, and The Association claimed they played "bluer blues than The Rolling Stones. Nevertheless, a critical reappraisal of these sophisticated sounds has provided a beautiful afterlife for sunshine pop. It is now widely coveted, collected, and consumed.. So, join us in the park, at the beach, or wherever your soft dreams usually transpire. `A Whole Lot Of Rainbows` gathers 24 soft pop treasures released between 1967 and 1969 -- none of them available on Rhino`s Nuggets boxed sets. Ultra-Groovy packaging includes a 22-page booklet with colour photos and detailed track notes by writer/compiler Andrew Sandoval.
