RESTOCK. 2006 reunion of the legendary mid/late 70`s Boston rock band, who, in their prime, were absolutely jaw-dropping. I saw these guys a few days in the Boston clubs and their ferocity, attack of the music was second-to-none and, here, more than 25 years after they broke up, Willie "Loco" Alexander and The Boys return and pull off the impossible: Leaving where they left off in 1978 after releasing 2 under-performing but uniformly excellent albums on MCA. In fact, "Dog Bar Yacht Club"`s cover is a updated version of their debut. All the trademarkes of Willie Alexander are here and fans of his records with the Boom Boom Band(specifically this period of the band) are
going to greatly rewarded in the surprise of hearing the band again. Fans
of Alexander have not heard his special voice and poetic lyricism with a strong band or guitar accompianment since 1988 so it`s great to hearing
rocking guitars inside his voice. Dont` know who Willie Alexander
is? Although relatively unknown outside Boston, Willie "Loco" Alexander is familiar to rock trivia experts as the answer to the brain-teaser: Who took Lou Reed`s place in the Velvet Underground. Alexander founded the Lost in 1964, one of Boston`s most popular garage bands of the period, and recorded for Capitol during the mid-`60s. He is worshipped in France, like Mink/Willy Deville, as a rock hero. This was a band who was bold, strong enough in itself to open their 1978 MCA debut with a cover of "You`ve Lost That Loving
Feeling", a version of which was absolutely stunning. Here, in 2006 with
"Dog Bar Yacht Club" their unique rock sounds are re-discovered and expored anew, reinvigorated for the present. More than a welcome return, a homecoming of a King. Very Highly Recommended!
