HUGE NEWS Not Lamers! It`s been many years since we have heard anything
from the STARBELLY camp but 2009 arrives with fantastic news: the arrival
of Starbelly guitarists` Dennis Schocket`s "The Cinderblock Mansion", an
album that will not disappoint fans of Starbelly for sure, while offering
something new and special. Featuring help from Andy Bopp of Myracle
Brah and fellow `belly member Greg Schroeder, the CD contains no duds and
the Schocket`s inspirations(and Bopp`s for that matter) of
Lennon/McCartney harmonies and melodies are on proud display here. But
there`s a new spunk and spirit in 5 or 6 of the songs: a acoustic, raw
simplicity that sounds like studio demos from Badfinger - listen to Track
#1 below for a good example of this statement. It`s track-after-track of
jangle awesomeness. Pure and simple. In many places - not to push the
Bopp connection too much - some of these songs will remind folks of early
Myracle Brah perfection. Heap on the superlatives as this one nails it.
Shocket`s heartfelt melodicism and willingness to belt out his heart`s
passions bring an album filled with reflection, sincerity and
inner-strength. It`s early in 2009 as I write this, but here we have my
favorite pop record of the new year! BIG TIME Extremely Highly
Recommended!
