Dwight Twilley is perhaps one of the most underrated songwriters and
recording artists of the Rock era. His fabled slapback echo power pop sound
won fans the world over. This 5th volume of rarities features some of the
most treasured lost tracks from Dwight as a solo artist, The Dwight Twilley
band, and its predecessor, Oister.
Rarities, Volume Five is packed with 15 Twilley gems from Dwight Twilley
Band deep cuts such as The Two of Us, Shakin` In The Brown Grass, and even a
great demo of Chance To Get Away. Other gems include I Love You So Much
(later recorded by Twilley bandmate Phil Seymour for his debut solo album),
the Beatlesque Fallin` Too Deep, the rockin` Did You See What Happened, the
groove-laden The Second Time, and the ethereal I`m On A Dream (which Twilley
has resurrected for his upcoming Green Blimp).
This volume contains a couple of very cool, deep jewels from Dwight Twilley
Band predessor, Oister. Namely, Stand Up and Cold Weather Woman show the
innocent early songwriting prowess of Twilley. Both songs give us a glimpse
of Twilley`s early years. Interestingly, these songs remind us of present
day artists such as Belle and Sebastian The New Pornographers, Camera
Obscura, and The Decemberists. Enjoy....
