Fans of The Damnwells, Tom Petty, Gomez, Ryan Adams and just extremely
well
written rock songs with a strong emotional core need to check out The
Alternate Routes. 11 songs and all keepers. "Their unfailingly
melodic and
soulful touches makes this an most enviable debut"-Performing
Songwriter. "
Make no mistake about it this is a band of modern rockers that sound
fresh
and vibrant on their exciting debut. Firstly, you will recognize as I
did,
the lead singer Tim Warren on the catchy brilliant opener ³Ordinary² (my
pick for a single). He has a commanding voice that demands your
attention.
Not only is he a good vocalist that knows how to project his voice, he
sings
with a warmth and emotion that is rare in a rock band. Although their
sound
is not, principally unique it does border on several genres such as roots
and alternative rock at times and even dabbles with some country rock
flavors (think The Eagles or Jackson Browne) like on the closer ³Please
Donıt Let It Be.² They take some ³alternate routes² if you will...
Good And
Reckless And True is the ultimate group effort that starts and ends on a
superlative note, and everything in between is mighty fine
too."-MuzikMan.
""Ordinary" opens the album up, beginning with a lazy strum and
building
with a solid vocal performance from Warren. "Who Cares?" picks up the
tempo
with some well-crafted hooks and "Hollywood" offers up some bluesy guitar
playing. "Aftermath" is a radio-ready rocker followed up by classic rock
influenced "Going Home With You." "Are You Lonely" carries that same
influence while songs such as "Time is A Runaway", "Endless
Conversation",
and "California" showcase the band's more accessible side. The
melancholy of
"The Black and the White" sets the stage for closer, "Please Don't Let it
Be", which finds the trio letting it all hang out. Good and Reckless and
True is an album that is not just typified by some good music,
however. The
band has some pretty serious lyrical chops as well."-AssociatedConent.
