Right out of the gate, it`s clear this one is special. "She Just Wants To Be Loved" mixes a lot of personal faves.....early Elvis Costello, D.L. Byron`s "This Day And Age". Sort of like Graham Parker doing a power pop album in a very Marshall Crenshaw-y way. Fortunately, the momentum keeps the pace of the first song, adding lots of musical depth with resonating jangling guitars, passionate vocals, crisp guitar tones. There`s some Wilco, Tom Petty, Not Lame faves, Easterly and Jeff Finlin mixed in throughout. This is the first solo recording from the former leader of Buzz Zeemer & Flight of Mavis but it far surpasses the fine, fine work of both of those bands. There`s not a dud on the 11 songs here and we`re pushing this to onto the list of the Best of 2005 list to battle it out later in the year. You k now what the means......Extremely Highly Recommended!
