It has been 4 years since Goodwin`s debut album and they have returned with their second release, "2" that catapults over its predecessor with confidence and delivers 10 solid, strong songs that have a helping of downright `excellent ones - listen below for some of our faves, actually! Like their debut, in spots Goodwin remind of us of fellow Texans Blue Cartoon, but most strongly bring to mind a less edgy "Copper Blue" Sugar, as well as some Replacements, Ruth Ruth, poppy Foo Fighters, and the long-departed Who Hit John. 10 songs of smart, aggressive POWER-popping rock. "Texture, white noise, insanely catchy melodies and Tony Diaz`s ironhanded vocals collide in a creative way on just about every song. Their music is prog-rock-ish though not necessarily knotty, more along the lines of The Replacements and the Foos. Their technical goodies reside beneath the surface, beneath the Beatle-esque melodies and two-part harmonies, the Frampton-DP riffage, and the stomping beats. Diaz`s honest, unvarnished, masculine voice arguably defines them. Running a close second is Gomez guitar tone, a warm, buzzing sound to which he administers exquisite touch and feel. Goodwin 2 is relentlessly brutal but in the most pleasing, charming manner, like what I have always imagined being beaten up by Muhammad Ali would feel like: Though your ears are ringing and your solar plexus is sore, you want the fight to keep going, just so you can keep watching him. "Just take a seat, pretty boy," the champ says, reassuringly and somewhat sympathetically. "It will be over soon.""-Fort-Worth Telegram. VERY Highly Recommended! Song #1 - mp3
