Honeywagon - Payday | To get an idea of the guitars and amps and drums and sound of Honeywagen, think of them commandeering the Beatles equipment back in February of 1964 and turning those amps up full blast. Not so clean, and kind of rough around the edges -- but cool -- taking those 60`s guitars and amps and driving them like it was more like 1971. Honeywagen brings boy next door by day turned lively power pop rock band at night to the unsigned band circuit. Imagine Green On Red, Steve Wynn, and True Believers with their unique brand of desert rock-cum-Neil Young earthiness going all out power pop inside an intense Big Star fixation and you have the sound of Honeywagen. Add a guitar player that sounds like the work Richard Lloyd/Robert Quine did with Matthew Sweets` early/mid 90`s work and you have a kick-ass power pop band who retains a loose-spirit that all cool records retain - big Riff-driven guitar hooks, storming vocals and melodies that have refrains that sound very comfortable with itself.
