Very impressive 9 song, 28 minute debut from this talented, promising
Brazilian power pop band who call this release an EP for some reason, but
can't beat the price as Impar wants *you*, Not Lamer, to hear them. Hear
them, you should. Bsides mentioning that they know and love The Shazam and
proving their fine inspirational launching points, they take are committed
taking their favorites into their collective bosoms(Jason Falkner,
Jellyfish, Jon Brion, Beatles, Beach Boys). Not that these consistently
cool songs sound exactly like their influences - many don't' - but the DNA
is clearly there. While these songs are Portuguese, like recent faves
Volovan and Chetes, it really is beside the point as melodies and hooks are
so out-front and catchy, you end up humming along without understanding why.
" IMPAR¹s sound is similar to The Pyramidiacs, with a touch of
Badfinger, due to Marcelo¹s voice.
Their EP contains 9 magnificent songs, with guitars that reminds us of
australian groups like The Stems."-PopMadrid. " If you just listen to the
melodies and riffs, you will enjoy IMPAR just as much as any English
speaking release. And who knows when they may be picked up by an American
Label for an English version of their stuff?"-Powerpopaholic. "They could
easily be the next big thing in the brazilian Rock. They got it all to
please: melody, great songs and lyrics, an energetic live performance,
charisma and a lot of talent. Led by singer/songrwiter Marcelo Mercedo,
IMPAR is a safe bet." - Diário do Pará, Brazil. As debuts go, this one is
Extremely Highly Recommended!
