2008 solo record from Superdrag leader and he’s most certainly back and rocking here and in fine, fine Superdrag-mode, must say. This album(his second solo one) rocks! “When Knoxville indie rockers Superdrag disbanded in 2003, somebody forgot to tell frontman John Davis to unplug. Davis is back with his second solo album, Arigato—an unapologetic Christian apologetic that is as ferocious in sound as it is convicting in lyric. Davis has a knack for straight-ahead rock ‘n roll that pulls no punches and delivers pulsing rock revelations. I am thoroughly engrossed with it. Yes, this new album is more like his earlier Superdrag sound, but there’s more to it than that. Where I used to hear the influences of Lennon, McCartney, maybe Brian Wilson … now I’m hearing Dave Grohl, too. It’s a much more straight-ahead rocker than his first solo CD, lacking anything like a ballad to break up the pace.” - BoredAgainChristian (love that blog name!). “You know how you're listening to a rock album and then all of a sudden, a slower/sappier "this one's for the ladies" ballad comes in and breaks the momentum? None of that crap here. On this album, it's 11 balls to the wall songs cranked all the way up. Sounding much like Foo Fighters (which incidentally, the album was recorded at their home studio in Los Angeles) and great bands of yore like Dinosaur Jr. and Hüsker Dü. It's still some great melodious power pop a la Superdrag but with a punk edge to it. Just simple guitars, bass and drums like the good lord intended it to be.”-MuchMusic. We’ll never tire of hearing John Davis penned tunes no matter what – Do check out the just-released 2 CD set of rarites from early Superdrag days, “4 Track Rock!”. Song #1 - mp3
