John Hoskinson - Pancho Fantastico | John Hoskinson is one of indie power pop's great hopes. Proof is right here with his new one. Just listen "Miss Rejection" below and hear the classic Jellyfish-cum-Doug Powell tastiness and the Michael Penn 'n The Grays grooves of "She Makes Me Yawn". And lots of Crowded House/Neil Finn all over the place, too. It's just simply great and why Uncut gave his debut 4 stars and said ' The lost link between Rubber Soul and Emitt Rhodes.'. And he's got all kinds of talent helpin out here. Eugene Edwards; Robbie Rist, Brian Whelan and Dan Iead (The Broken West), Stevie Blacke (Beck, Glen Phillips) and old fave Joe Ongie helping out with production. Pancho Fantastico has the complex embrace of warmly harmonized vocals throughout and confectionery melodies to bathe in. Each tune here reveals intelligent and cleverly constructed songs with interesting melodic structures, some great harmonies and top quality pop-tastic arrangements while being both an easily to enjoy experience and challenging the ear for the `out of the norm` options out there--all wrapped up with plaintive, beautifully delivered lyrics. EXTREMELY Highly Recommended!!

| PANCHO FANTASTICO - Does what it says on the tin ! | |
| Reviewer: chris welch | | I only discovered John Hoskinson a few months ago whilst searching for Beatlesque power - pop on the web. Being a big Neil Finn/Crowded house fan i was immediately attracted to the Finnesque vocal similarities and smart, well written songs.
Hoskinson takes the fab four blue print on Pancho Fantastico and runs with it - 'Miss Rejection' is all summery harmonies and bitter sweet lyrics, 'She Makes Me Yawn' is a grin inducing swipe at an ex and 'Guaranteed' is the best Crowded house song Neil Finn didn't write.
The sound of the CD is rich and clear and credit must go to the producer and mixer for excellent work.
Hoskinson does, at times, sail very close to pastiche with his arrangements but manages to stamp enough of his own personality on these tracks to make Pancho Fantastico an excellent addition to any power pop fans collection.
Great vocals, guitar playing and an ear for a giant chorus - Beatles, Jellyfish, Badfinger and Feeling fans will love Pancho Fantastico. His best solo effort yet. |

| Pop with a Twist! | |
| Reviewer: t bold | | John Hoskinson is a true poet. His lyrics are excellent. The song arrangements are pure genious, from incredible stripped down acoustic songs, "We Can Never Be Friends" to full-on orchestra-style arrangements, "I am Not Surprised." These twisted pop songs, like "Creepy" will have you wondering, "Why can't more people write great love songs like this one?" If you can't tell your lover how creepy they are, who can you tell? If you're laughing, you will get the twisted humor that John Hoskinson shares with his listeners. He has a soft side too, try "Only One By Your Side." These songs can take you from a lonely living room, to a sunny, bike ride in paris. Can't wait for the next cd from John Hoskinson! |

| Pancho is magnifico! | |
| Reviewer: Lady Hooligan Kat | | I love this cd; it’s pure pop/rock magic! Every song is unique, but they all have John’s sweet voice singing lovely melodies and smart lyrics. My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE song on the cd is the soaring and retro “Just Think It Over”. I can listen to it non-stop, and it’s definitely on my list for the Top Ten Songs of 2007! |

| Viva Pancho Fantastico! | |
| Reviewer: Lani Anzivino | | Pancho Fantastico is a superhero of an album, saving listeners with discerning taste from corporate schlock, one great tune after another.
With 13 stylistically varied songs, stand-outs for me are “Creepy,” “Just Think It Over,” and “We Can Never Be Friends” (listen for a terrific acoustic guitar solo on this one).
Thanks to John Hoskinson's finely honed pop sensibility and enormous songwriting talent, Pancho’s in heavy rotation in my house. And if you’re a fan of The Beatles, Crowded House, or Michael Penn, I think you’ll love it, too. |
