Stunning solo album from the leader of Grapes Of Wrath. Listen below and hear its beauty, this is one to check very carefully. Listen to Song #2 below and hear the spirit of not only KaneÂ`s former band come out of hiding after all these years, but also Michael Penn, Saul Zonana, Jon Brion and Matthew Sweet. ItÂ`s a confident, laid-back approach few artists feel comfortable in; Kane is never too quick to drop a big hook or jump to the obvious chord change, itÂ`s following his own muse entirely but for the Not Lame palette, itÂ`s one folks like us fall into with ease. The solo work of Neil and Tim Finn are also other touch-points as Kane is a storyteller, the smooth, superbly executed lush and mellow sounds, the many layered soundscapes just pull you in. In. And In Again. Usually, my ears get impatient with some of the material contained in an album like "How To Build A Lighthouse" (a malaise of the ADD, `want it nowÂ` modern world), but right from the first song, there was instinct to stick with this one, start-to-end and the rewards will be many and not-so-common. Indeed, they were and are. Extremely Highly Recommended!
