We drop the name of The Elms every now and then here. If you`ve not heard The Elms, well, go do a search on their two records now and jump in. One of the best power pop bands on the planet. That they are a Christian rocking pop band is bsides the point(The Afters are Christian, as well). The Afters will do about as perfectly as possibly could be until the next Elms records arrives. The quality of the song-writing, the intense, insanely catchy choruses, stellar production and cool band vibe are all here in spades. It`s the type of power pop, if it radio played, would be all over the airwaves. Alas, it`s not. It`s on our web site, it`s in your homes. Take The Tories, Switchfoot and PRR Beatley/Sloan leanings, add a dose of Oasis/Travis/U2 big arena reachings and "World So Bright" Adam Schmitt riff, pop and roll and dice it up on the clean, white counter and if, after listening to "Never Going Back" you don`t hit replay. Call me, you need a doctor! Well, it is on the commercial side of things with some big, clean production, but while many times that does not work for bands such as The Afters, it does here. It`s filled with exuberant numbers whose driving rhythms and eminently hummable melody lines are the hallmarks of any well-written power pop composition but done with a clean flair that could reach to a large audience. "4 ½ stars. the core of the album is a steady dose of radio-ready rock, from the powerful essence of "Keeping Me Alive" to the urgency of "Tonight." Without straying too far from their roots, the Afters distanced themselves from the pack with this record."-AMG.
