It has been 5 years since Maplewood released its self-titled album. On that album, like a scent of night jasmine, the Maplewood sound wafted from the canyons to the beaches and out into the desert, an ode to a California ideal mapped out by such precursors as America, Bread, The Flying Burrito Brothers, The Stone Canyon Band, John Phillips, The Byrds, 70s Beach Boys, and even CSNY. Those leanings are still very much in focus in 2009 as Maplewood cast its eyes westward, toward the golden shores of California and the laidback legacies of the aforementioned bands. Lush harmonies, shimmering guitars, evocative storytelling and gorgeous soundscapes. "The psychedelic, lazy, and hazy sounds of `Long White Ride` is in no hurry to get anywhere in particular. They`re content to let things progress slowly with several long, slow, guitar solos acting as the carthesis of the song." - SongIllinois.net
