LAST COPY! Been gone from the site for years but have come across a small handful of this 2 CD set from legendary Swedish pop band, Brainpool reunited for this ambitious affair, a rock(actually power pop) opera. SWEDISH ONLY release, so sorry, can`t avoid the price. (copies are autographed by the band). Of course there`s libretto and 2 pages of the story synopsis. But what of the music? It`s incredible! so much here.....Reminds me of Kevin Gilbert`s "The Taming Of The Shrew" in many spots, but add glimpses, that dart `n dash in and out of focus of 70`s prog rock(classic early/mid 70`s Genesis), Jellyfish, modern day bands like Air and Travis, early Sparks, 70`s Bowie(`71-74), Pink Floyd, late 70`s skinny tie pop and glam, The Who, The Kinks 68-`72, plus, of course, other Swedish pop bands like The Merrymakers. Some bits reminds us of songs from the soundtrack to Velvet Goldmine, even. It`s all here and it all plays effortlessly and effectively to make a potpourri brew of excellent music that works on many levels. We don`t get both accessible and ambitious vision in the pop genre too often---this fires on all pistons and is a joy, start to finish. Extremely Highly Recommended!
