Canada`s No Deluxe Nothing is a national secret and we`re perplexed, after
listening to "My Lonely Wife Disarray" a bunch of times the last few weeks,
as to why no one in the power pop world is the least bit aware of these
guys. Let`s change this because No Deluxe Nothing has a most unique sound,
which is best described as a power poppin` version of The Police during
their " Zenyatta Mondatta" period. They remind us of bit of The Well
Wishers/Spinning Jennies, as well as Barenaked Ladies, even Sugar, in parts.
They utilize a sonice assult `n barrage of crushing, sharp but melodic
guitar riffs and sweet flowing melodies(singer sounds a bit like Sting, but
not cloying solo Sting-again, more classic ethereal Police-styled sound).
No Deluxe Nothing crafts some sublime, slower songs, too - it`s not all
hooky, slashing slendery tight melodies cut like a Ginzu knife but some
slower songs really hit the mark, too("Pathetic", "New Design"). It must
be hard for Canadian pop bands for magazines and radio to take note of these
sounds, but in the Not Lame world this sounds mighty, mighty fine. There`s
excitement, energy in all the tracks which will invite you into their party
of frenetic, hard driving crunchy rocking pop and sweet good fun. Extremely
Highly Recommended!
