2005 new STUDIO album from Ken Stringfellow and Jon Auer - THE POSIES! Cause for the existence of God, ye the cynical of you! "Stringfellow and Auer are back to make the album that half the power-pop world fantasized about for years. Every Kind of Light takes the Posies of old, more or less, and unleashes them into the world of modern music. While a few unexpected wrinkles turn up (politically conscious Posies?), Every Kind of Light is a memorable, if not magnificent, return for the Seattle act. Sporting far-reaching musical aims that add new dimensions to The Posies` typically gooey, Merseybeat-meets-Nirvana power-pop into areas that may surprise many of the act`s fans. "It`s Great to Be Here Again" opens the album with a funked-out bass line and spacey keys that has little in common with the band`s grunge-era classics until buzzing guitars enter to give the groove a bit of a pop sheen. Adopting a nocturnal vibe, the band slinks its way through "Last Crawl," as Auer indulges a whiskey-fuzz melody that`s one of the band`s most restrained and somber tracks ever. The act tries on bar-band garage hyperbole in "I Finally Found a Jungle I Like" and, surprisingly, it fits rather well as Hammond organs whir and the act rocks out like a carefree and lovable bunch of rock hounds.
For every track that pushes The Posies into new directions, there are at least two that deliver the blue-around-the-edges power pop from albums like Failure and Frosting on the Beater. "All in a Day`s Work" screams with fuzzed-up bass tones and screaming guitars held in check by Stringfellow`s plaintive delivery. "Second Time Around" opts for fiery distortion and power-pop abandon, while "Love Comes" and "That Don`t Fly" let the act juggle restraint and heartbreak along with big hooks."-Aversion.com.
