Second Saturday - Greetings From Mount Rockmore CD EP | An exhilerating, springtime-fresh 5 song CD EP from faves Second Saturday, whose debut is a big favorite here at Not Lame. Imagine(go with us here) The Beach Boys(but not literally) playing Fountains Of Wayne, The Argument, Jetpack and Ben Folds. Or Jeffrey Foskett teaming up with new up and comers The Blakes, The Rentals, Light FM or Adventures Of Jet. Huh? What`s all this? It`s spiffy, up-beat lightly tinged new wave power pop for modern made to splash water on stiff, established pop contributions of late. Second Saturday`s music is a fine-woven blend of catchy, energized, and powerful sugar-pop tunes with beautiful melodies, up-beat tempos, rip-rocking guitars, infectious synthesizer, and four-part harmonies that can be matched by the likeness of only Brian Wilson. Every song a winner! "A testament to power chord crunch, cheesy synth lines and Wilson brother harmonies.. great power-pop, with male-female vocal harmonies and cheery, head-bobbing melodies"-The Nashville Rage. On their debut album: "The band`s debut album, Here`s the Deal, exudes some of Brian Wilson`s summer lovin` atmosphere, with spikes of electric guitar and buzzing synthesizer dragging the songs into, if not the present, then at least 1978."-Nashville Scene. Extremely Highly Recommended!

| Customer Reviews | | Second Saturday--Greetings From Mount Rockmore | |
| Reviewer: whit whitsbrain.com | | Smokin' hot Power Pop packs this EP from Second Saturday. Listen to this release and try to dismiss the classic summertime sounds of "The Fox". Take your best shot and try to ignore the spell-along chorus of "Arianna". Attempt to keep your feet from tapping along to the punchy beats and atmospheric harmonies of "Have You Held On?". This is totally top-notch Power Pop. More PLEASE!!!! |

| Reviewer: Billy G. Spradlin - Jangle Radio On Live365.com | | Several members of Second Saturday were in the Pendletones, thier Pop-Punky "Forty-Nine Percent" was a favorite of mine a few years ago. I'm glad those members have returned in a new lineup. "Greetings' has a more mature sound than that earlier group with wonderfully dense Beach-Boys-Jellyfish-Silver Sun inspired harmonies with a smoother yet crunchier full guitar attack.
"Have You Held On?" and "Stand Off" sound like Weezer if they rehersed more often and worked on still-important things like vocal harmonies and airtight musicanship. The megacatchy "The Fox" should be on Contemporary Hit Radio stations everywhere with girl group harmonies that give me goosebumps. My only gripe about this EP is that it should be a full length album! |
