Spongetones - Beat & Torn | Direct from Jamie Hoover and the band, the band has officially repressed more after being out of print for a long time. Beat & Torn, which is a classic among classics in the power pop idiom and regarded by many scribes as being a high water mark for the 80`s and in the Top 20 of all time. A must, MUST have for any new or old serious power pop fan, pretty much that simple."The Spongetones are without a doubt the finest example of pure, unadulterated Beatlesque joy to emanate from the indie pop underground." - Goldmine. "The Spongetones are aglow with a forward-thrusting musical abandon that recalls the glory days of many of the most familiar British Invasion front-liners, including the Beatles, the Dave Clark Five, the Zombies and the Who....But the SpongeTones` music has little of the rote, dogmatic obeisance of mere revivalism; instead, it sounds like the soundtrack to a party so good it could never happen in real life". - Rolling Stone. |

| This is the reason you love Power Pop! | |
| Reviewer: Chuck F | | What can I say, this is essential stuff. Never mind the fact that the music here is Beatlesque, to say the least. But, that's not the main reason I love this CD ('though I love the Fab Four), it's simply the fact that these are pure pop songs written by people who know how to write great pop songs! If you truly consider yourself a Power Pop fan then you WILL have this in your collection. |
