Stratocruiser - Copyshop Girl EP | This is the first release from Stratocruiser since 2003`s self-titled debut. Stratocruiser has re-tooled with a new singer and have been working with some high-profile "ringers" since the debut CD. There is scant evidence of the psychedelic musings from the first CD, but all the pop and all the rock remain in their full glory. New vocalist Clay Howard bring heaps of soul-inflected passion to the proceedings, and therefore Stratocruiser`s sound has blossomed into something that is unique yet as familiar as a favorite old ball cap. "Copyshop Girl" is a special CD-single lifted from their soon-to-be-released CD, Suburban Contemporary. The "A-side" features the talents of Robbie Rist (if you know anything about the modern power pop scene, you`ll know Robbie is a MAJOR player) on bass, drums and he even mixes and co-produces. "Copyshop Girl" is a slice of amped-up. stadium-fueled power pop that evokes Cheap Trick in the relentless balls-out guitar hystrionics and Fountains of Wayne with its witty wordplay and
charming subject matter. The "b-sides" are three tracks that are exclusive to this release. "Hearts are Wrong" features Peele Wimberley (Connells) on drums and Jon Heames (Let`s Active, Motocaster) on bass. The third track, "Billy Budd" is Stratocruiser`s "Moby Dick", a tour-de-force drum solo that is a feature not found on many power pop records (long live Bonzo, indeed!). Lastly is an amazing and spirited unplugged version of the Cheap Trick classic "Come On Come On"."Copyshop Girl" is a limited edition CD-R pressing that should wet your appetite for the forthcoming full-length CD.
