Stratocruiser - Revolutions

2006 release from Stratocruiser, a band that combines a blend of rock, power pop, garage, addicting melodies and a dollop of psychedelia. Conceived by notorious North Carolina songwriters Mike Nicholson and Clay Howard, Stratocruiser is a band which also features numerous quests who play their respects on track after track of jangly, crunchy kick ass songs. "Revolutions" brings the mixing and recording talents of Mitch Easter along for this one, too and find this new CD taking a stronger step back into mid 70`s rock inspirations( a few of these song remind us of Starz and Rex, for all your 70`s rock geeks!), which as Stratocruiser does, reconnect them with their power poppin` heart. Why? Well, because the band are 4 regular guys who make hook-laden pop music that completely rocks! Plenty of subtlety on record, but live shows are all about bringing the rock. Low-slung guitars, fog machines, ear-splitting volume all are mixed with well crafted tunes to bring you, the listener, a full on aural experience that is both visceral and intellectual. On "Revolutions", they capture some of that spirit.

Cool heavy guitar riffing from lead guitarist Mike Nicholson is like a panzer attack while its charm scorches inside the pure pop delight. It`s all wrapped up with a driving urgency and bristling excitement. The band is proud of their vintage keyboard textures and guitar sounds and incorporation of musical touches which make melodic indie pop the beautiful thing it is. As they should be. All the material is filled with creamy, finely accented examples of what fresh pop can and should sound like. It`s a pathos of pure suitably shimmering, powerful pop. "(the song "Smell Of Success" is guitar-driven, jangly verses that could have been part of the Byrds/Electric Prunes/Spirit/Standells garage-rock revolution. Only it isn`t marred by muddy production or excess vocal distortion" - Berkely Place. "For fans of rock and roll with a pop topping, this disc is for you. For tans of pop with a little grittier edge, ditto. For the rest of you...my sympathies, as you will never get into heaven without hearing this disc. Your soul is at stake! Buy this disc!"-Rock Beat. Rawk your pop, no rollin` it - Extremely Highly Recommended!

Stratocruiser - Revolutions
Reviewer: Whit  www.whitsbrain.com
Riff-laden rock meets sweet pop on this, the third CD from Stratocruiser. This release runs wild over the landscape of classic '70s rock, the synth-filled '80s and the grinding '90s. Stunning guitar crunch is laid down over Power Pop melodies spread thick with confident vocals and harmonies. The Led Zeppelin and T. Rex influences can be heard readily here as well as some more modern comparisons to Matthew Sweet, Collective Soul and the Smithereens. With "Revolutions", Stratocruiser brings a tuneful blast of rock to loudspeakers everywhere!
