Classic power pop mixed with classic rock stylings that have plenty of hard driving lush melodies, intriguing chord changes and vocal harmonies reminiscent of Squeeze(lead singer JoDee Purkeypile sounds a lot like Glen Tilbrook, no doubt) and Crowded House, two of the strongest influences you will find on "All Haunt`s Sound". Fans of another Austin, Texas band, Blue Cartoon will find kindred spirits here, as well. The Alice Rose inhabit the area just outside mainstream pop, applying their eclectic reverence for music of the past to the classic pop formula and kicking out the kind of complex, yet catchy pop on which Squeeze, Crowded House, and Elvis Costello made their names. The band`s fresh, orchestrated sound and intelligent lyrics have many in the press hailing them as one of the most captivating and accomplished pop acts to come out of Austin in some time. The band kicks out full-on, jumping rock ditties as well as lush, mysterious, and romantic pop compositions. The blending and orchestration of their sound is unmistakably Beatles-esque; you can not hide from that fact. However, as Pop Culture Press put it, "This band`s sonic palette is far more eclectic for mere Fab Four comparisons." In fact, the materials eclecticism has garnered the release comparisons that, while centering on The Beatles and 80s Britpop icons, stretch out to encompass a host of other bands and genres. Just about every review adds at least one unique addition to what would be a very long RIYL list. "The Alice Rose has a lush sound that falls between indie pop and power pop, but whatever the categorization, the common denominator is their highly melodic songcraft. The disc opens brightly with "She Did Command", which has a Jon Brion/Michael Penn feel to it, while the jittery beat of "Waste Away" sounds a bit like how Spoon would sound if they were guitar-based instead of piano-based. "Maybe a Ride" would be the obvious choice for the "single" from the disc if singles were a viable format these days, with its bright melody and uptempo sound. The Beatlesque "Slumberella" is another winner, and the joyous "It`s All Allowed" will set your toes to a-tappin`. If you like your pop with a little bit of a sophisticated edge, The Alice Rose is perfect for you." - Absolute Power Pop Blog. Extremely Highly Recommended!
