ABSOLUTELY AWESOME. Don`t let this one slip by - it`s the kind of pure pop release that a lot of power pop purists may quickly dismiss because of a slightly edgier, indie pop sound that does not toe the lines for old-school definitions of pop but Fate Lions fire out splendific, pure heavenly pop charms that made The Shins almost break though to the big time some years back. Echoes of Teenage Fanclub flit and flutter here, occasionally gently doused with tasty new wave dollops. Nice. REALLY nice. "One of the best pop-rock bands around. I`d have to tip my hat to `em anyway just for doing what they`re doing: conjuring up Nick Lowe-ish, R.E.M.-y, Elvis Costello-esque 80s radio pop. But the Fate Lions aren`t just aping some sort of distinctive sound from yesteryear to milk sympathy from old nostalgic tools like me. They`re being the real deal, expertly mixing jangly, cranky, countrified, Rickenbacker-tinged solos with snappy, toe-tapping beats and ooh-ahh-ing harmonies." - Fort Worth Weekly. "Fate Lions, like Nourallah, make thoughtful but unrepentantly sumptuous pop with ear-tickling sonic flourishes such as creamy layers of background vocals, hand claps, tambourines, and enigmatic lyrics that step right up to the brink of melancholy but never fall into ennui." - Jimmy Fowler, Fort Worth Weekly. "The band has a low key indie pop sound that recalls early REM and The Lemonheads, as well as that sleepy Beta Band vibe. Opening up with a fade-in on "Seen It All" is a good start with a catchy rhythm guitar riff that builds to a multi-tracked chorus. The rumbling "Astronaut" is a solid tune that reminds me of Cracker`s "Teen Angst" quite a bit. The 80 and 90`s styled shine is all over the album and there is no denying the bands melodic storytelling ability on "Calendar Girls."" - Power Pop Aholic. I`m listening to this for the 3rd time as I write this information for all of you a sunny, crisp, cold early Winter morning in Colorado and fires upon all the right pistons to make me feel what all great music should - alive, ready, filled with new hopes and optimism for a new day.
