Not the normal styled album one sees here on the Not Lame site but The Joey O Band is a grouping of musicians who have their hearts and souls grounded in a place familiar to most of us - the 70s. "Bad Habit" features help from Pezband Mimi Betinis on backing vocals but the varied stylings of musical styles are wonderfully scattered and continually a surprise to see what comes next. One moment you are hearing a Jo Jo GUnne-ish 70s hard rock riff, the next a mid 70s Southern Rock jab, another a late 70s bar-band boogie groove and yet another a grab at good `ole fashion power pop. It seems they are pleasing themselves first and foremost and that is precisely why"Bad Habit" has a charm to offer you and me -- it is wonderfully unconcerned with working with conventions of what is hot and now and delights in its ability to be true to itself.
