2008 reissue!! First time on CD outside of Japan for these two albums and *DonÂ`t You Dare Laugh*!! These two albums will shock and awe many whose instinct just now was to laugh. Seriously. Really. There are 24 songs here and I swear at least 15 of them are not only gems, many of them are kick-ass rock `n roll - old school style. Listen to the songs below right now - find the out-right life of "Immigrant Song" they stole from Led Zeppelin. Larceny? I say, `bring on, boys!". And "Crazy Horses", the song, is insanely rocking, catchy and meritous of repeated plays the first time you hear it. Guaranteed? Well, for a majority of you reading these word right now, `yesÂ`. Seriously, there are a bunch of my online friends who are so geeked to see these two albums out now - and combined on a two-fer, too! We traded CD-Rs of these albums many years ago while we realized that we were fans `in the knowÂ`, owners of a true secret. YES, this is not a life-changing album, massively original. ItÂ`s just FUN. REALLY good fun. 2/3 of this material holds up just fine if you are a fan of early 70Â`s rock and AM pop. ItÂ`s not all rocking rock, thereÂ`s plenty sappy ballads - some blow, some impress. "The 1970s saw the release of countless concept albums, but few were as unusual or unexpected as this 1973 magnum opus from the Osmonds. Anyone who thinks of this family group as a bubblegum soul outfit will be bowled over by this incredibly ambitious outing, which attempts to explain the family`s Mormon beliefs through a series of songs that cut across a wide variety of pop genres. The end result is a testament to the group`s versatility and skills as musical craftsmen but The Plan ultimately doesn`t work for a few important reasons. Ultimately, The Plan comes off as an ambitious misfire instead of the thought-provoking epic it was obviously intended to be, but its grandiose style makes it worth a spin for Osmonds fans and anyone into unusual 1970s pop artifacts."-AMG. Now, I get where this reviewer is coming from, I do. But I would argue that to enjoy the strongest material from these 24 songs takes you back in time and makes it easy to remember why you fell in love with music so many years ago. Take a trip. Enjoy!
